🙅🏻‍♀️Your kids aren’t to blame.❤️ 🤔I remember this moment vividly before I had kids. I was standing in my office in my brick and mortar gym in IL. A group fitness member was running me down the list of roadblocks as why she wasn’t getting the results she had set out for. “WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE KIDS. THEN YOU’LL GET IT,” she said. I smiled, nodded and said, “Okay, let’s get back to class!” 🙋🏻‍♀️I have kids now, they’re 3 and 5. Do they make things more challenging at times? Yep! Do they need things and want things constantly? Absolutely! (Most of which they can get on their own as I’ve set our house up to be accessible for independent kiddos😜) Do they bicker, practice karate one each other, and make one another cry all the time? Oh Yeah! Am I going to let my kids prevent me from being my healthiest, happiest, best self? HELL NO! That would make me less than the best momma I could be. I want you to keep in mind, the same habits you want to RID yourself of(which you can!), you’re laying the groundwork for your children. -the way you speak about your body. -the nutritional habits. -the way you speak about food. -the procrastination. Whether good habits or bad habits, our kiddos are sponges and SOAK IT UP. As parents, it is our job to provide a balanced structure for our kids. This can look however you want it to, but if YOUR goal is to get healthier- start creating that environment in your household and stop using your little people at the roadblocks to success. 🚫“I can’t do X because of my kids.” 🚫“No way I could workout at home because of my kids..” 🚫“My kids wanted “X” for dinner.” 🚫“My kids would never eat that.. just easier to do Y.” 🙅🏻‍♀️Instead of using your kids as the reason you’re not succeeding in your fitness and lifestyle goals, use them as your greatest motivators. ✅Use them as your reason to get healthier. To try new and nutritious foods. ✅Use them as your reason to address your lingering disordered eating behaviors that have been engrained since your childhood. BREAK THE CYCLE. For them. Motherhood has certainly made me a more flexible and compassionate individual, (cont. in comments)
