I had the pleasure of speaking in Dayton, Ohio to mental health professionals about the 6 principles I’ve turned to that have tremendously helped impact my mental health in a positive way. Within the “Congregation” portion of my talk, I touched on cyber-bullying. With the new season of The Bachelorette airing, I think it’s very important that we remember that the people that will be shown are just as human as we are and feel all the same feelings that we do. So as we watch them navigate a very unfamiliar environment, let’s do our best to refrain from publicly casting judgment upon them. Because inevitably, there’s going to be mistakes made and light shed on them. And whoever becomes the target of ridicule, whether it’s tonight or in the following weeks; Put yourself in their shoes and think about how that hateful message you’re contemplating sending would impact you if you received that one and 1000 similar messages.
