In June, I spent 10 days with the National Severe Storms Laboratory on their final TORUS mission studying supercells over the Great Plains for @nytimes . We covered Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and saw some pretty amazing, otherworldly, storms. Thanks to the TORUS crew for keeping me safe(r than usual) and taking me on this spontaneous storm route, showing me parts of America I had not yet seen.
