Ozzie has done so much for me since he came into my life. The single most important one by far has been getting me outside and into nature. I spent a solid majority of the last decade inside behind various screens or cameras. Late nights on a stage in some club or music festival and sleeping away the day. At that time in my life it’s all I wanted and it brought me places I couldn’t have imagined being. But something always felt a little bit off. Last night I shared a post on my story about the music industry and it caused me to reflect on my own time spent there. I’m grateful for all the memories, the places I’ve been, the people I’ve met, the goals I’ve conquered, and the access to a lifestyle most people dream about. But the toll it took on my physical and mental health at times isn’t something I would willingly invite back into my life. I’d like to speak on this more at some point in time, but today isn’t that day. For now I’m just grateful for this dog and the new places he and I are going together. The freezing mornings stomping through bushes and creek beds. The steep uphill hikes there and back again. The sound of a shotgun breaking the silence.
