Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Barbara, but some call me Barbie. I was born in Puerto Rico and raised by my hard-working mother. When I was 10, she took me to NYC, and as I strolled through Central Park Zoo, I remember feeling like I was home - not sure if it was intuition or maybe just a decision I made back then, but I knew Manhattan was where I belonged. I grew up with my grandparents teaching me about art, music, and spirituality. My grandfather would always encourage me to perform for him - from concerts (bulería and flamenco mostly because he’s from Catalunya) to fashion shows with my sister and cousins volunteering as my models. But most importantly, he would read the Bible to me and teach me about having a relationship with God. My grandmother and my nanny were my safety net, my confidants. They saw me. They knew who I was even before I did, and still today, I can feel them guiding me every step of the way. And my sisters * pause for sigh * well, what can I say? They are more than my best friends; they’re my world. They are my reason to be better every day and want to be an example for others. I consider my childhood best friends my true soul mates because they’ve seen the many versions of me and embraced them without judgment. But my adult best friends, wow, simply divine alignment. Their support and wisdom are treasures I cherish. I say all this because just like you, LOVE is everything to me. I’ve always searched for love in everything I do, sometimes even in the wrong places, but I have been lucky enough to find it and receive it in these relationships. But it wasn’t until I turned 30 that I finally learned how to love MYSELF. I kept trying to be everything to everyone, and only last year I discovered who I needed to be for myself. These past few years have been a journey of love... SELF-LOVE. And I feel excited and honored to share everything I have learned from a healed place in my life.
