✨ Rested recovery ✨ A positive affirmation that staying in the hospital is actually good and not at all scary!! Hope this changes your mind about hospitals! It was @howisethan’s first admission to the hospital at 19 months old. It was initially terrifying because we didn’t know what to expect and that horrific IV needle we all dread. I cried, but turns out it was just a teeny-tiny plastic tube (swipe to see the photo). My husband and I have been taking caring of E at home for the first 5 days as he had a very persistent fever, at one point reaching 40.5!! You can imagine how drained we were! On the 5th day, he had a chest X-ray and turns out he was developing pneumonia caused by bacteria along with 4 viruses. Boy was it strong!!! Doctor said it was time to admit him. Very fortunate to have secured a bed after only 4 hours despite being 5th in the queue. He got IV drips of antibiotics (12h), nebuliser treatments (4-6 h), nasal flushes (2x a day) and chest physiotherapy (2x a day) on a regular basis. By the second day we could see the difference and realised that proper care actually means better rest for the parents! Little one also napped longer than usual in the afternoon. Talking about 3-4 hours. All we did was eat, rest and manage cabin fever! You can tell how rested I am because I could reply to all your DMs, it usually takes me at least 24 to 72 hours!! Thank you for being my companions and sharing your inspiring stories too! You kept us going for 5 days!! We are ever so grateful to Doctor Nancy, all the physiotherapists and the Paediatric Ward of Mount E Novena for taking great care of us. We appreciate everyone who prayed for this little family, sent gifts and their well wishes! Parents, especially moms, you are stronger than you think! This is all part of building their immunity! You got this. 🤍
