BEASTIE BOYS - November 1991 - This image was the second of three that I shot of them on the curb there on Franklin Ave in Hollywood not far from the Capitol Records building where we decided to meet before we went on to several other locations throughout this long fun day of making pictures. These were made the day after Thanks Giving in 1991. On these quiet days “off” after a holiday I find interesting things on my computer and around the apartment. This photo between the two others that were used (one for the LP cover of Check Your Head, and the better one in my opinion used on the T-Shirts made that year and again since, as well as big in my MY RULES book and the TOGETHER FOREVER book where all three appear) is great to see Adam smiling probably after cracking a joke that the boys were always relentlessly doing. I’ve said it many times, these guys could bring me to tears laughing most days with the shit we’d all be talking. I came across a few fun Beastie Boys moments today including some great e-mails. Always sad to think of someone no longer here... I can’t even really grasp the concept of no longer being, i grapple with it often too. I am glad we have the work and memories of those that are no longer here have left for us and the future as long as they may last and inspire. On that note I will say for the 1st time publicly that I am finishing up work on another book! I know all the members of the BB’s would love to see this one! Frankly I am blown away with what I have come up with for this one. This particular subject is a band I only made a total of 200 photographs of over i believe a year and a half, and in this book that you will see next fall I have used 140 of them! *There will be a Beastie Boys exhibit opening December 10th in Los Angeles at the Beyond The Streets space @BeyondTheStreetsArt a few of my images in there ;-) Let’s keep it going and do the best we can.
