Good morning y’all, Please join me to welcome our friends curator extraordinaire Soojung Hyun and Rail beloved contributor Robert C. Morgan today Tuesday (10/18) for an in-depth conversation on the exhibit Blood and Tears: Portrayals of Gwangju’s Democratic Struggle.
Forty-two years after the May 18, 1980, Gwangju Uprising in South Korea, when a large number of demonstrators were killed by government troops, the exhibition, Blood and Tears: Portrayals of Gwangju’s Democratic Struggle, continues to unfold fading truths and historical distortions. Soojung and Robert will discuss the exhibition’s exploration of the history of Gwangju, which had a leading role in the fight for democratic freedom and human rights and subsequently became a hub for internationally recognized contemporary art, at 1 pm Eastern. Phenomenal poet Julie Agoos will read to close the program.
You can register for this conversation through the link in our bio. And you can see Blood and Tears: Portrayals of Gwangju’s Democratic Struggle, on view at Anya and Andrew Shiva Gallery (@shivagallery.art) through October 21st.
