We hiked deep into the Hawaiian jungle... 🍫🌴 ...to learn about plants and cacao!! Our hiking guide Jojo taught us about the Maui’s ecosystem, agriculture, and history, including “canoe plants,” 🛶 or the original plants that the Polynesians carried on their canoes to survive the overseas voyage and begin life in Hawaii. Aside from plants, we saw lava tubes, ancient rock ruins, and a sacred waterfall. It felt like everything here had a story to tell! 📖 To end the day, we did a farm-to-table chocolate workshop 🍫, as wild Hawaiian cacao grows in this jungle and is one of the rarest origin of cacao.
