While I understand the concern about “pride washing,” honestly I love seeing all of the rainbows. June is my favorite month. Whether corporations mean it or not, I’ve decided for myself that every rainbow and flag I see is a reminder of the people who’ve literally given their lives for the rights of this community. Especially trans women and the black queer community. Progress is not made overnight and in my own lifetime I’ve seen a lot of positive change. To me June is a reminder that hard work and perseverance can change culture for the better, and that there’s still more work ahead of us. That inspires me. A huge part of what prompted me to start @flex was wanting to see the LGBTQ+ community reflected in our brand, where anyone would be comfortable using our products, shopping the period isle, or having our packaging sitting out. I’ve seen a ton of change as a result of bringing queerness into the menstrual category and I’m proud that we led the way. For me this flag is a call to action. There’s so much more to do.
