Achieving crown volume with @curlkeeper roller jaw clamps! After applying stylers to wet hair, I let my hair air dry for approx 45 minutes (until a slight cast starts to form), then diffuse the lower half of my hair (where the curls are) on low heat and low air flow until approx 50% dry. Removing excess water weight from my lower curls allows my straighter crown areas to spring up more. I then turn upside down to loosen the crown area with my finger tips and gently pulse upwards on the lower curls to encourage lift and waves to form in the upper half of my hair. After turning right side up again, I then gather the crown hair into the claw clamps to create additional root lift and volume, and continue air drying to at least 75% (if time allows), rearranging the claw clamps if needed, before diffusing again to complete the drying process. After removing the clamps, I shake out the curls from side to side, then turn upside down to SOTC. For wavy/curlies such as myself whose curl patterns do not begin at the crown (this is genetically determined, guys), this styling method will help create root lift and crown volume regardless of which styling products are applied to your hair!
