@cosmoprofna owes me not a thing this year! Longer story shortened, the representation of black-founded inclusive brands this year was huge and the diversity of the product offerings was impressive and telling. I’m honored to be a part of the magic that was on display, as media might not always show international audiences how supportive we really are with each other and everyone else. I could go on about that, but the joy present is my focus. Thank you to the organizers of our space (I don’t have a full photo of each booth - so many), Adrienne & Maria!!
Meeting founder friends who “get it” and cheer you on as you do for them only reminds me that I’m not on this journey alone in ANY way...ANYWHERE. God knew I was nervous about this and sent me angels. Shellie with @inherpeacebeauty was my booth neighbor and we vibed immediately. Next thing I know @googlebri @liploveline @chic_and_vegan @_omandp_ pop up & it’s a party 😂!
Ran into @absolutejoi and @mykarite, finalists as well with @aveenous & @essence Skin Health Startup Accelerator Pitch!
Shout out @avegasexpression for the amazing Staff who KILLED IT. Adrianna and Lynette helped me draw traffic to my booth, speak to people when I had to step away, took notes, and all with amazing energy! LIFE SAVERS!! Thank you sooooo much!! 🎉🙏🏽
Saw THE @tonibraxton who spoke with THE @missjulee about her brand development and she even sang for us a bit y’all! Omg 😳 you have no idea how long I’ve adored her and her voice. I had a poster of her and I’d use her songs to practice my singing growing up. Amazing experience and she’s so down-to-earth and funny.
Every panel I attended was great actually. One panel featuring founders from @topicals @beautystat @thirteenlune (@olamideaolowe, @ronrobinsoncosmeticchemist, @nyakio), REALLY made me think about some additional channels for @beasbayouskincare and the impact we can make!
I also got a chance to pitch for @glosswirebeauty in front of @amanzasmith! WHAT?!😳
I’ll stop here, but to summarize this —-> 1) Step out on faith. 2) Plan your work & work your plan. 3) Hire help and don’t be ashamed to need it. (duh) 4). Keep joy in the mix & have fun! 5) Share resources.
☮️❤️,
A
