This one means a lot to me. A few months ago @grandcentralpub_art’s art director reached out to commission me for the cover art of the late Representative John Lewis’s final message to the people. I can’t begin to tell you how honored I am to have been given the opportunity to interpret such a pivotal figure in the constant fight for true equality and liberation. My mother was born in 1960 in the height of a time in history that claimed our rights and defined the fight, so when she got the news she was overcome with emotion. I’m thankful to have shared that moment with her and to share this one with you. What’s amazing is that this project was one of the many fruits that came from the 28 Days of Greatness project. With that said I want to give a shout out to the honorees of 28 Days for being the people you are because I may not have had this opportunity if it wasn’t for you. Ok that’s all I have for now.
