Conservation—the idea that things stay the same when they change shape—is a concept your child may be years away from mastering, but early lessons spark wonder and problem solving. 🧠
By 30 months, your child may be able to try pouring water from the jug to the glass and then back again. This requires concentration, motor planning, and self-regulation. 💪
Using the Liquid Lab from the Investigator Play Kit, start with a small amount of water in the measuring jug and demonstrate how to pour from the lip. Show your little one how to grasp the jug handle with their thumb on top and one or two fingers through the handle.
You could an also add a little food colouring to the water; show what happens when red and blue water are mixed. This pouring kit isn’t just for liquids—other items are also fun to pour, like rice, lentils, sand, and other small objects. Children left to explore on their own will use this activity in many open-ended ways. 🙌
Thank you @petiteschoses_ for sharing this video with the Liquid Lab from The Investigator Play Kit for months 31, 32, 33. ❤️
