This morning, I suffered a bit of a professional setback. Oooof. They weren’t kidding when they say “Don’t check your phone first thing in the morning.” One thing I’ve learned about myself over the past two years is that I’m a highly sensitive person. Social media sure thickened my skin, but dealing with rejection and internet trolls sometimes gets the best of me. When things like this happen to me, I can’t help but be really hard on myself and think that “I deserve this treatment due to past mistakes I’ve made”. I’ve worked so hard to “consider the source” when confronted with online trolls and have learned to take losses in stride, but yeah. Today definitely feels a little heavy. Damn - I had really hoped that opportunity would pan out. Anyways - one of my favourite quotes of all time is “Rejection is God’s protection.” The great @melrobbins also said “You aren’t really being rejected, you’re being redirected.” (Thank you, dear @lovtrenn, for sending me that one. I hope to reach your state of unbotheredness one day 🥲) Anyways - getting these feelings off my chest sure helped.
