“What’s Black graduation” “Why does there need to be a Black one” Told my coworkers about black grad and it got real silent, before they each said “That sounds a bit racist/ Kinda segregated ...but I can’t say anything because I’m white” But honestly... Thank God for Black Graduation. Black Grad was absolutely beautiful, and inspiring to say the least. Thank you @purchaseblackgrad for providing a space where Students who work hard against all odds against them are acknowledged and celebrated. Thank you for pronouncing our names correctly. Thank you for holding space for Black performances, and paying homage to the Black national anthem. Thank you for giving the stage to uplifting and empowering Black Students, Faculty, and Alumni to support us and build community. Thank you for giving us a ceremony where we did not sit in the rain and wind because a tent was not provided for students and families to sit under during. Thank you for awarding and congratulating students that are often otherwise overlooked. Thank you for giving a platform for those whose light is dimmed, to get their time to shine.
