Rewinding a supernova ⏪ Data from Hubble and @NASAChandraXRay helped astronomers “turn back the clock” on the debris of an exploded star, known as SNR 0519, seen in this image. It’s believed that this stellar explosion could have happened as long as 670 years ago... during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France, and the height of China’s Ming dynasty. However, the supernova explosion might have happened more recently based on evidence that the blast wave crashed into dense gas around the supernova remnant, which might have slowed down the expelled material.
