Being a Black female entrepreneur in the beauty space means following in the footsteps of those who came before me like Madam CJ Walker, whose legacy is the inspiration for @MADAMbyMCJW. As a full time content creator, creativity is at the root of everything I do -- from makeup, to hair, to fashion. Staying creative and avoiding burnout is easier said than done, but it's an essential part of having a healthy work environment! 5 ways I stay creative: 1. Consistently taking at least two days off a week! Being an entrepreneur means sometimes working 15 hours straight -- be good to yourself and take some time off. Your body will thank you! 2. Trying something new and picking up a new hobby outside of your niche. I love doing my hair and makeup, but whenever I'm having a creative block doing something new and challenging (like cooking a new recipe) always helps me get over it. 3. Keeping my home clean and organized! Literally no one is motivated to work in a cluttered or disorganized space, so this is especially important for me since I work from home. 4. Spending quality time with people I love! Creating content can be an isolating experience, so stepping outside of myself and consistently spending time with people I love (and my puppy) can make all the difference with how creative I feel. 5.
