@jokoy has worked for over thirty years sharing his stories about his big, loving, crazy, complicated family, and his love for the Filipino people. He believes our voices matter. When the opportunity came along to pitch a movie idea to Steven Spielberg, he could have made it just about him, he could have insisted on household names only, but he wanted to embrace and uplift Filipino American families, the immigrant experience, the cultural touchstones that make us who we are, while showing the universality of our dreams and ambitions. He included artists who have been plugging away for YEARS, and invited us to share our voices, our perspectives, our own family histories. My family did not grow up with a lot of money. When my mom got sick, my Lolas and Lolo, my Titas and Titos and cousins, all came together to make sure we got through. We had food and music and love, and we made mistakes along the way. There is so much to embrace with @eastersunday. Get your butts to the theater now, because we all want to continue to share our stories. Check out my movie Easter Sunday, in theaters NOW! #filipinofood #representationmatters @amblin @dreamworks @universalpictures @ridebackranch @crabclub
