We are so pleased to announce that the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge will be undergoing a major rehabilitation with funding from the Great American Outdoors Act! This project includes interior and exterior repairs that will bring this popular park destination into compliance with current building, safety, fire, and accessibility codes. Infrastructure funding from the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is part of a concerted effort to address the extensive deferred maintenance and repair backlog in national parks. The rehabilitation of the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge will correct $6.68 million in deferred maintenance and repairs associated with this facility. Structural improvements to the Day Lodge, including repairs and upgrades to the building’s heating and ventilation systems will make the building more energy efficient. Interior and exterior improvements will bring restrooms, access routes, and parking areas in compliance with the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards. In order to complete this rehabilitation, the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge will be closed from April 2023 to May 2024. Temporary facilities will serve visitors to Hurricane Ridge during this closure.
