An antidote to fashion’s breakneck churn and endless mimicry, Bethany Williams (@bethany_williams_london) is a designer unafraid to do things her way. Contemplative, fearless and socially radical, her designs extend beyond clothes to explore the architectures of care. Born on the Isle of Man and educated in fine art before transitioning to menswear at the London College of Fashion, Williams quickly found her place at the intersection of design and community. Her eponymous brand — which won the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in 2021 — is structured as a social enterprise. Every season involves charity collaborations, engaging not only with fabric but with stories: those of the displaced, the marginalised, the unseen. Today, her practice takes a quietly radical turn in a new solo art exhibition at Bethlem Gallery (@bethlemgallery). Titled ‘This Wild, Achingly Beautiful Place’, the show is more like an excavation of the self — and, after a chronic illness put her career on hold, it’s precisely that: a homecoming. Our contributing writer Lottie Jackson (@lottievjackson) spoke with Williams and captures the ethereal essence of this exploratory exhibition in an exclusive interview. 🔗 Head to the link in bio to read the full interview or press the Play button at thr top to listen to it! ▶️ (ALT TEXT embedded in images). #VisibleVoices #BeVisible #Disabilities #InvisibleDisabilities #ChronicIllness #DisabledArtist #ArtGallery #Sculptures
