On #worldhijabday I would like to share this clip from my last appearance on @masterchefcda ❤️ What a learning amazing experience it has been! Being able to be me, with my hijab, with my believes, having a suppurative team who put so much effort and love to make me comfortable 😭 I will forever be thankful. When I look back at my appearance on MasterChef, I was at my lowest, suffering from severe postpartum depression and anxiety, still breastfeeding my 1 year old, had put on so much weight, still had my braces on😂 and didn't always say the right thing at the right time, but I learnt so so much, I learnt to be kinder to myself and seek help when I needed. Hijab is so empowering and is my source of pride 😭 never thought that the little girl in grade 7 that decided to keep her hijab on the last day of Ramadan in the hot summer would still be wearing it Infront of the world on tv, inspiring little girls to do the same, showing them that your hijab is not a hurdle but a tool of empowerment! I remember when my art teacher in Egypt saw me wearing the hijab the next day after Ramadan ended, and she expressed how ugly it looked on me, then she pulled off the tip at my forehead pulling my hijab off! I remember so many incidents that could have been a reason for me to take it off but I also remember so many amazing incidents and experiences that pushed and encouraged me to keep it on! On world hijab day I want to say to all the Hijabis and ex Hijabis and wannabe Hijabis, you are strong, you can do it, and don't let hate break you! Sending you all so much love ❤️
