Rome is 6 hours ahead of New York.. and when you’re moments away from your ticket time at the Colosseum, and you’ve just been denied entry because mom didn’t bring her passport.. the panic. We didn’t have time to go back to the hotel, and the front desk said they absolutely would not send a photo of her passport they used when we checked in.. panic, panic. We woke up on a chilly sunny morning in Rome, and got a cab to the colosseum. We got a little preview of the Vittoriano, and my gosh! That was second on my to do list for the day, and ended up being the best part of Rome. But hang on- so we get to the colosseum and it’s packed like I’ve never seen packed before.. and I’m from NY! So many people. After the headache of mom almost not being able to get in, dad comes through and sends a photo of her ID and we make it in! I feel so bad though, it was like 4am in New York and I was praying he’d be awake!! We make it inside and once again, full blown wonder strikes. To be somewhere to ancient, so full of stories. (And also so full of people 😂) Two laps around, a colosseum kitty spotted.. I really thought we weren’t gonna be able to get in after the passport fiasco!! I’m so happy we were able to experience the colosseum- you just have to, at least once. It was definitely crowded, and really overstimulating trying to get the photos, get the stories, navigate the people.. but like I said. You have to go at least once!
