The very last bundle of old straw braid (Made in Italy in 50’s) was simply too dry and every time I touched it, it produced crumbs. I tried to resuscitate it but it was way too fragile. There wasn’t even enough to make one full hat either so I made an extension to the crown and covered it with left over cotton. The end result: Unfortunately it is simply not good enough to offer to my wonderful customers 😿. Good news: I now have my first straw hat since when I was a child! Yes, it’s MINE 👧 Don’t I look like a nun going to see her parents during a summer recess, if such a thing exists?! 😸💒 So this is the end of a beautiful old straw story.
