Reflecting the diversity of the surrounding forest in Portland, Maine, Julie and Scott Pelletier’s Scandinavian-inspired home features crisp finishes in pine, oak, and birch. Designer Rob Barrett (@barrett_made)—once the family’s landlord and now their friend—worked closely with the homeowners to arrive at a trio of streamlined gables that comprise the home. “Scott is definitely a guy who knows what he likes,” says Rob, “and that’s clean, functional design.” Every element of the minimal, uncluttered design was deliberate, including the decision to leave out a front door.
