Happy 100th Birthday to my Lola. In honor of her 100th birthday, I’d like to formally dedicate and announce that @nycfilipinos is now an official LLC in the state of New York. My Lola has been through a lot - she was born in a nipa hut in San Carlos, Pangasinan in the Philippines, where she raised 7 children. She was married in WWII and had to hide during the Japanese occupation, where one of her brothers died serving in the war. She petitioned for all of her children to come to America, where they first settled in NYC. Not only did she survive the depression, but she made it through the covid-19 pandemic and has been surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ever since I was born, my Lola has been one of my biggest supporters - for each graduation, celebration & she always believed in me running for office, even if I didn’t win. I can’t think of a better person to dedicate this to - but I hope that everyone can take the time to spend it with their families or the ones they consider family and devote all their energy to the ones they love - because that is who matters most. Our family matriarch always put family first & I think that’s why she’s been able to see a century.
