This Sunday for the Rockaway Hotel + Spa Sunday Art Series, we are featuring Sonia Louise Davis' piece, emergence: elderberry. This piece is from an going suite of soft paintings Sonia makes with industrial tufting machines and yarn. Sonia's work is grounded in Black studies and informed by her training in jazz vocal performance. She writes, “guided by thinkers who speak urgently of adaptation, deep listening, waywardness and collaborative survival, I situate my practice within a lineage of Black feminist abstraction.” emergence: elderberry was installed this past Spring.
