I’m very excited to announce that my new album, ‘Dear Chaos’, will be released on October 7th. A new single called ‘All Ours’ is out tomorrow - the video directed by @niallito is coming later today. You can pre-save/pre-order the album now on limited vinyl and CD via the link in the bio. Dear Chaos is a portrait of destruction, loss and ultimately renewal. This album gave me a number of gifts. In the beginning, I struggled a lot with finding a reason to make an album at all outside of the very simple fact that it’s ‘just what I do’. I realised at the time that the project itself was kind of getting away from me and my initial ideas around what it was and how it should exist seemed distant, and I needed to reestablish my holds on it. In essence the house had to be burned down and the project needed to die for this album to be made. It feels like a first release to me in a way, not that it is a seismic shift in the sound, but more that it is a seismic shift in the way the music is made and why it is made. My experience whilst creating it shapeshifted from the feeling of being followed by a looming shadow, to it being like a life raft that I clung to in difficult times, to an ally and confidant that sat with me in the dark and just listened. The most important thing that it gave me however was a more acute understanding and awareness of human indifference, and the fact that all of these big experiences that we have are just ours and no-one else’s.
