This time, last year... Waking up in Rome to spend the day visiting the Colosseum, Vittoriano, and the Trevi! I fell in love with Rome.. I’m like not even ready to talk about it yet. My last post was to share some photos from the colosseum, but before I post the next part of my little ‘this time, last year’ series, I want to share some videos of the afternoon spent visiting the Vittoriano. It was the best part of the trip. And there truly was no planning so it surprises me that it was the best part (but I guess it’s a reminder you just can’t plan everything and shouldn’t try!) We got here early in the afternoon, after spending the morning touring the colosseum and then stopping for a quick bite. I had planned to just see the building, I didn’t even know you could take the elevator up! But something about the stairs was just calling to me, so we walked through the gate and started climbing! By the time we made it to the first level, in search of the bathroom probably, I was seeing signs for the panoramic rooftop bridge.. and purchased tickets on the spot! And as we got higher, the light of Holden hour started falling over Rome.. and it was just beautiful. I ended up writing a post on Substack just to share this experience with you (my Substack is free, I’ll post it below!). So many of my favorite pictures were taken this afternoon, and I just can’t believe how this whole experience was one I didn’t plan.. to think of being in Rome and not experiencing this!!
