When I first starting going through the process of searching the weekly ads and composing content, I quickly realized the repetitive math and calculations that I was making every week- plugging in new sale prices and new coupons with new rebates. It was a lot of the same thing and I wanted to find a way to automate it because let me tell you- pen and paper calculations just wasn’t cutting it. I was so sick of Calculator App showing up in my screen time report 🤣 So I decided to start tracking the math and logging everything as receipts came in. I started creating tables in Excel to track the data and came up with a spreadsheet. I have been working on this spreadsheet for almost 2 years now, perfecting the formulas and adding in helpful tools and tracking information to make my shopping and budgeting easier and more efficient. It’s now become a couponers dream machine; it auto calculates entire deals as you enter them, so that when you finish entering your last item, it’s already calculated what you’ll pay out of pocket at the register, any rewards or cash back you may earn, and your overall net cost for each individual transaction as well as an overall multi-transaction summary. I created a BOGO% Off calculator to make it easier to find the correct values to assign items at various discounts in each transaction. I also added formulas to calculate if your threshold coupons at Dollar General will be met when using other DG store coupons, and an indicator that will tell you if you’ve met that threshold in that transaction. It’s absolutely hands down the best most accurate tool you’ll find. I know because I looked for one and I was not satisfied with what I found. Most of it was all “printable” versions for more pen and paper calculations. During the process I have posted only twice specifically offering this spreadsheet to anyone who thought it would be helpful and though the spreadsheet was in its infancy compared to the touched up and polished version it is today, I received some amazing feedback.
