Follow ▶️ @bestcocktails 🍹 Post ▶️ @risajamesphotography 🍹 The Red Light I love fall, but I don’t get all that excited about Halloween. There are a couple of Halloween cocktail contests happening right now though, so I pulled out some spooky tricks! Thanks to Rhead operating my @stundenglass smoker, I was able to achieve an “eerie after-midnight in the graveyard” feeling for this one. The recipe is one I found in a Punch newsletter. I’m always on the lookout for something with Genever, and this one was just odd enough to intrigue me. On paper, it seems like a weird recipe, but it really works. THE RED LIGHT by Charles Joly 1 1/4 oz. genever 1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier 1/3 oz. Underberg Stir then strain into chilled coupe. No garnish indicated. I used Bobby’s Genever, a regular orange liqueur (not Grand Marnier), and obviously garnished with a spider. One-third of an ounce of Underberg works out to half of one of those tiny bottles it comes in. So if you’re making two, it’s perfect. If you’re only making one, I guess just drink the rest of that tiny bottle, lol. Swipe for more fun shots. I had so many, it was hard to choose! And there’s one without smoke so you can actually see the drink. My studio smelled like a campfire for three days after this. Totally worth it.
