Want to dance? 💃 These galaxies are locked in a gravitational “waltz”! Trapped in a mutual orbit around each other, these two galaxies will continue to distort and disrupt one another. Known as NGC 2207 and IC 2163, this galactic pair resides about 114 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. Billions of years from now, they’ll merge into a single, more massive galaxy. Astronomers believe that many galaxies, including our Milky Way, were formed from a similar process of coalescence of smaller galaxies occurring over billions of years.
