The boutiques shine a light on the effortless melange of Scandi design, regardless of its form, and tend to serve as meeting places that blend the quotidian with softness and serenity, as well as imperfection. As such, not all forms are smooth or soothing, and some outright contradict the harmony normally sought after in Scandi minimalism. But this is exactly why these spaces have such an allure to them. They are built to have time spent in—not just passed through by the clientele. They are there to force you to interact with the space and the carefully curated objects; be it a magazine or a scented candle. And while spacial design and curation play an important part in By Malene Birger's parlance, these ideas equally transcend across into fashion and are continuously present in the brand's sartorial lexicon. In this regard, the SS 23 collection only enhanced this idea of Scandi minimalism mixed with the Japanese concepts of wabi-sabi and ma, both visibly present in Dixdotters' boutiques. This idea that objects are impermanent or irregular while co-existing through the emptiness in space is best seen through the natural colour palette and simplicity found in the collection. The oat-coloured, oversized knit dress and the straight-cut white suspender jumpsuit are perfect illustrations of how Maja Dixdotter employs the aforesaid concepts in her designs, without forgetting the functionality that allows for freedom of movement. #scandi #minimalism #fashion #sweden #photography #ss23
