On this fine Midsummer day, here's Margaret Fisher Prout's c.1960 painting of the same name. It's a painting that captures her practice very well: a portrait of women in lush gardens, with a palpable atmosphere created with light and colour. Throughout her career, Prout became well-known for her unconventional techniques – including making oil studies for watercolours (usually it's the other way round), and running paintings under the tap to achieve her desired effect.
