Long Post! Late last year @takubeats invited us to collaborate and produce his super ambitious ‘Songs to Experience’ immersive installation. The concept here was to create a world fitting the sonic environment of the tease track that was being played from his forthcoming albums.
Up next in this series of posts Terminal was a an idea to connect the lockdown people of Perth to something they had been missing for 2 years. We built a stylised airport complete with working baggage claim that showcased an artist and connected them to the rooms. At one point we had sourced a real claim from an airport but it wouldn’t fit inside the venue. The solution was to disassemble 11 treadmills and rebuild them into what you see here. @prettysoon_ and @takubeats allowed me to really go to town on this theme with a real Bluetooth controlled flicker board that displayed messages, building all new walls and adding a vintage retro carpet to the space .. to flipping the trans world air and hertz logos to Taku World Air and hurtz. We brought in real airport seating and a baggage trolley added period ads around the place and plenty of Easter eggs hidden for Taku fans. Due to the WA lockdown we built the whole scene in Sydney then shipped it to Western Australia in a container with the other rooms.
One of my favorite rooms and collabs. The process was insanely challenging and super satisfying.
Thanks to @prettysoon_ and @takubeats
