Supplements for Hair-loss:
Biotin is important to healthy hair and nails, however, unless supplementing due to a deficiency or biotin related disorder, it may not dramatically aid in hair-growth or reduction of hair-loss in healthy individuals.
The daily recommended intake of biotin for an adult is 30 micrograms (μg), but many biotin supplements marketed for beauty reasons contain much higher doses, ranging from 5,000 μg to 10,000 μg. A health diet usually contains enough biotin without need for supplementation.
Before getting on biotin supplementation or any other supplements, it’s prudent to do a test to see if you really need it or if it’s related to your hair loss. Excess biotin can affect these
* Troponin—a test used to help diagnose heart attacks
* Thyroid hormone tests, such as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) tests
As derms we see more patients with these deficiencies that can be associated with hairloss way more than biotin deficiency .
Iron deficiency: is the world's most common nutritional deficiency and studies show some association with female pattern hair loss (FPHL) or in chronic telogen effluvium (CTE).

Vitamin D: Deficiency has been linked to alopecia areata but it’s role in female pattern hair loss and telelogen effluvium is still not clear. However, vit d deficiency is more common than biotin deficiency.
