some things I’ve been seeing lately Thanks to lovely friends @devening_projects and @cushionchicago - @dreamcaketestkitchen and I got to spend some time in Wisconsin recently, it was good for the soul. The stones in the first image reminded me of O’Keeffe’s “red and pink rocks and teeth” from 1938, it hangs in the art institute here in chicago. I highly recommend strawberry picking as a joyful practice. They grow in beautiful little clumps, lots of secretly ripe ones deep beneath the clover. Trying to make watercolors under a tree in the rain is a good exercise in humility (and delight) You also want to be on the beach when the rain moves in. The low hanging fog makes for an impossible horizon. The last two images are out on a prairie way west of chicago - visiting the home of a dear friend @michaelxryan - walking through the tall grass under a bright sun, sharing memories and conversation
