a year ago today, i hiked a peak alone for the first time. it’s something people do all the time in the adk, but for me the act of doing it solo was significant. both because i am someone who thrives in community, and in regards to the practice of processing life and pain through physical movement. my mind oscillated all day between pride/gratitude/joy for my independence & resentment/rage for the effects so much isolation had on me during my year+ upstate. there’s really no bow i have to put on top of the story, but just wanted to send a little digital embrace to those still digesting how their lives were turned on their heads during the last few years. & sending some courage to those who are just getting brave enough to dip their toes into the waters of processing. love you, keep going.
