We’re all feeling the pressure of the cost of living crisis. It’s impacting everything right now. Here are some of my top tips for keeping the food costs down wherever we can
⭐️ Weekly meal plan - this way you can look in the kitchen and plan your main meals around what is already there.
⭐️ Make more than one meal with the same protein - what I mean by this, is buying a pack of meat in larger quantities (if you can) and make it last for several meals. So I will buy a large chicken, roast it to have meal one, then keep the leftovers for another meal the next day. That’s exactly what I did for these Fajitas.
⭐️ Download the app “Too Good To Go” - this gives you access to food which would otherwise be thrown away due to sell by dates but is over wise perfectly fine. You do need to act very quickly! They go fast.
⭐️ freeze your leftovers - I tend to make slightly more than we need, especially when making curries or stews so I keep old takeaway boxes, and freeze leftovers in single servings. Then when it’s only me who needs to eat, I have a filling and healthy meal in the freezer ready. Or, sometimes when the freezer gets too full of boxes, we have a pick and mix dinner!
