Introducing Dan Rossi aka the Hot Dog King, owner of the @nyhotdogs cart outside of the MET for past 17 years. Dan used to have a hot dog empire of nearly 500 permits for pushcarts all over the city. Long story short, the city made a whole bunch of laws to strip Dan of all but one of his permits. So he took that permit and moved his cart to 82nd and 5th Ave, right outside of the MET. Arguably one of the better locations on the city for a pushcart but the only issue was that the permit didn’t lock him into the exact spot. Which meant if he left the spot, someone else would take it over... This lead to a lot of beefs (no pun intended, it’s a hot dog joke) so for the past 11 years, Dan has been sleeping in his cart and van every night so that he doesn’t lose the space. A true legend.
