33 today! celebrating my Grant Hill year 🏀 second slide = 4th grade self-portrait. Pretty sure I misunderstood the assignment and just started drawing Grant Hill, as I loved to do, then was informed by my tablemates that we were supposed to be doing self portraits. So I pivoted to drawing myself (plausible since I was frequently wearing his jersey). This drawing was displayed in the hallway at school for a bit and I was ashamed every time I walked by, not because I’d spelled Pistons “Pisstons” but because I was afraid that my classmates would think that I thought I was a boy because I hadn’t drawn my (very long) ponytail. Wow. So today I’m celebrating Grant Hill as weirdly an art root, a basketball obsession root, and a trans root even if the connections are a bit haphazard! Yay 33 here we go!!! Shoutout to my brother Sam for talking about this memorable self portrait in his wedding toast to Iz and me! I love you Isabel!!!!
