As Climate Week NYC finishes this weekend, explore The Socrates 2022 Annual ‘Sink or Swim: Climate Futures’ and see how our 2022 cohort has responded to climate change. The fellows present five projects addressing the urgency, enormity, and challenges of these issues. The traditional sink or swim metaphor imagines a situation where an individual is left on their own to succeed or fail, but the current climate crisis demands a rejection of individualistic thinking and an emphasis on collective action. These artists tackle how the matrices of race, gender, and class may intersect a green future and what we can learn from historically vulnerable, but thriving communities to help navigate this challenge. • Daniel Shieh (@danielshieh) ‘Passage to TOI-700 d (the New World)’ • Randi Renate (@randiirenate) ‘Are we psychic coral-polyps?‘ • Koyoltzintli (@Koyoltzintli) ‘Ticnu’ • Sean Desiree (@seandesireestudio) ‘Let Us Keep You Warm’ • Cheyenne Concepcion (@cheyenneconcepcion) ‘Disappearing St. Malo’ 📸: @audreymelton
