William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows opens in less than a month! A highlight of the exhibition is The Broad collection’s 30-minute five-channel video and multimedia installation The Refusal of Time (2012). The immersive installation is a celebration of making and collaboration. The five channel projection—with its complex sound environment created by Philip Miller and the extraordinary ‘elephant’ kinetic sculpture created by Jonas Lundquist—will act as a pivot in the exhibition. Anchored at the start by Kentridge’s Drawings for Projection, a direct engagement with South African history, the exhibition leads us through Kentridge’s work as it expands this local history out from personal biography into global issues of colonialism, the aftermath of revolutions, and the costs of utopian thinking. Tickets are now available—reserve now at our link in bio! _____ William Kentridge, The Refusal of Time, 2012.
