The ambition of emissions reduction pledges for 2030 needs to be seven times higher to be in line with the 1.5 °C goal of the Paris Agreement, according to a new climate report released today. The so-called "United in Science“ report is coordinated by the @wmo_omm and provides an overview of the most recent science related to climate change, its impacts and responses. It warns that without much more ambitious action, the physical and socioeconomic impacts of #ClimateChange will be increasingly devastating. Reacting to the findings, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on G20 countries to lead the way towards "a renewable energy revolution“. The United in Science report includes contributions from the UN Environment Programme, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, the World Climate Research Programme, Global Carbon Project; UK Met Office, and the Urban Climate Change Research Network. #COP27 #ParisAgreement #ClimateCrisis
