Long Post! Late last year @takubeats invited us to collaborate and produce his super ambitious ‘Songs to Experience’ immersive installation. The concept here was to create a world fitting the sonic environment of the tease track that was being played from his forthcoming albums. In this series of images we collaborated with @joemortell and @beamhacker . We built Joe Mortell’s 3D rendered Shirinda Residence in real life and placed it inside songs to experience. A projection at the rear was created by @prettysoon_ to complete the illusion that you were in a calming future home in the sky. We strategically added led lighting, sourced locally built furniture and recreated @jameswalsh.studio ‘s transparent chair which until now was only ever virtual. @takubeats Easter eggs were scattered throughout the activation and visitors were encouraged to write their own songs to.. Thanks to @asia_k for directing producing and styling on ground and friends @better_sets @perthfest and @thomas_supple for the build and support. In the second half of the images we collaborated once again with close friend @beamhacker to produce the infinity room. We created a false wall for beamhacker to install his infinity portal installation. The 3D printed O’s are the final clues for the name of Taku’s forthcoming album “songs to .o.. .o.. .o” where symbols were rendered instead of the actual letters in the title for visitors to guess and figure out. Song to Experience was truely incredible collaboration, not only due to the ambitious nature of the project but working with friends and like minded artists and creators. A massive highlight even though due to the pandemic we had to freight this from sydney to Perth and I was never allowed to cross borders to see it finished with my own eyes.
