Wow, what a doozie!! 🥲 ⬇️ 🚨 DISCLAIMER: I AM A PRO MUA & I DO NOT DO THIS TO ANY OF MY WORK! CLIENTS: I’m not posting this to make you not trust makeup artists. I’m a make up artist myself. This is how I make my living. But I do want to bring awareness to this. A lot of times clients have expectations that have been set by social media due to overly edited pictures — and clearly videos too. It’s one thing to edit a selfie or put on a filter for fun. But when it comes to beauty standards, expectations when it comes to getting your make up done, I hope that you realize that skin is skin, and humans all look like humans. Don’t fall for the height of perfect and poreless skin because it does not exist. Should you be paranoid that most make up artist are lying to you about their work? Absolutely not. I believe most of us are super honest and just very talented and don’t need all of the extra stuff. sometimes my work looks so smooth and perfect that it looks like it has a filter on it. And some days it doesn’t. It really just depends on the circumstances under which the pictures were taken, client skin type, etc. What I want you to take away from this is that first of all, you are absolutely beautiful and you do not need to look poreless and non-human like to look beautiful. Make up artists, aren’t here to fix you. We are here to enhance your already existing. Don’t forget that. MAKEUP ARTISTS: I hope that if you have fallen into the trap of comparing yourself to others, that this serves as a way to really open your eyes and realize just how talented you are. And if you are not where you want to be yet, sit down and look at all of the potential that you have and how much better you can become. Back when I first started doing make up, there were no editing apps. But once Facetune became a thing, I did fall into the trap of editing some of my pictures. Never to this extreme of course. But I would do a little smoothing here and there. Why? My work looked really good. I didn’t need it. But everyone was erasing the smile lines off of them selves and even of their clients, so I felt like I needed to do that to keep up. I only did it for a very short period of time, and didn’t do it on every picture. But I haven’t done that in so many years and it’s the best thing honestly. It’s so freeing to look at your work and post it knowing that you’re being honest and that YOU DID THAT. Not an app. It’s YOUR talent! Being true and honest with yourself come to your work, it’s so rewarding. You can zoom in and analyze what you learned it to perfection, and any spot that you missed. This allows you to become a better artist. If you sit there and edit your pictures and your videos, that’s a lie that you’re sending out to potential customers, but you’re also lying to yourself. You’re checking your brain into thinking that you are better than you are and it will take you longer to be the best artist that you can be. TO ARTISTS THAT DO THIS: I hope you know that doing this is wrong and that you are lying to people and you’re also lying to yourself. Do better. #makeupartist #mua #makeup #promua #beauty
