Bhangra music was made popular by the South Asian diaspora in England. Mixing Punjabi folk music with house, techno, hip-hop and more — a new home for queer nightlife has emerged. We are joined by a special guest HXA who has tasked herself with building a space for Bhangra in the LA queer underground. She will lead us through the history and culture of Bhangra by sharing her stories and a set full of heavy beats. HXA (Hena Ashraf) is a filmmaker and a DJ. Obsessed with music since a young age, she started DJing accidentally during film school. Born in London to parents from India and having lived in Michigan, New York, and now Los Angeles for the last several years, HXA's films and musical tastes reflect her complex and layered experiences from being a migrant multiple times over.
