[Carte Blanche Students] Discover the 20 finalists of the Carte Blanche Students 2022 ! Birds, the flowers, and them I made this project during the Identity Crisis I had during late 2019- early 2020. Moving to Switzerland from China, then experiencing the pandemic here leads me towards a lot of questions on my nationality, identity, where I belong to, where I should be in the future, also how Chinese immigrants would describe their nationalities and identities. I put my camera focused on three Chinese person who lived in Lausanne for different time. One came here for studying, one graduated and started to work here and was becoming a Swiss citizen, one is a Chinese restaurant owner who moved here 20 years ago and has children and family here. During the project, I asked them how they feel about China and Switzerland, where would they consider as home, how it is living in a foreigner country without a big Chinese community and how would they imagine a place they could fully express themselves. The answers were always complicated and vague, especially at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, people became even more isolated and "home" became a more complicated concept.Base on the research and experience, I use a lot of red color in the images as the color of blood, alert, national flags. I used symbolic elements to show their identities ​dissolve in the air, spread with the wind, like seeds of dandelions, like migration birds. There was no answer to my questions, we kind of just go with the wind.
