Today is the day!
It’s hard to believe that four years ago, I was dropping off an uncertain, shy girl at college as she ventured over a thousand miles away. Now, witnessing you on the brink of graduation, transformed into a confident, worldly, and remarkably bright woman, my heart explodes with pride. Your accomplishments are truly remarkable, and you, my dear, should revel in them.
Graduating Summa cum laude is an achievement to cherish all on its own. Somehow, you achieved so much while working long nights and fitting in everything and more that college had to offer. Yet equally commendable is your journey of self-discovery, both academically and emotionally. These four years have been marked by so much joy, some trials, and this past year, by profound loss, a burden too heavy for any soul to carry alone. A loss that makes one grow up that much faster. I’m thankful for your beautiful friends; none of you had to be alone.
When you ventured to FSU, I prayed for your safety and for the fulfilling experience you deserved. Little did I imagine the wonderful friends who would become your steadfast companions, supporting each other through joys and sorrows. I couldn’t have dreamed of better friends for you. Friends that healed parts of you that you did not know needed healing, and you brought so much love and laughter to so many.
As you step beyond the college gates, take a moment to reflect on all of the memories, each woven with laughter, tears, and triumphs. Treasure every moment, every achievement, and carry them close to your heart as you embark on the next chapter of your journey.
