Living Torch is out on Portraits GRM! Available now on vinyl, CD, and all digital formats. Since February 2020, I’ve been back and forth from the legendary electroacoustic studio @inagrm creating Living Torch. The piece was originally a multichannel commission for their Acousmonium, a loudspeaker orchestra comprised of dozens of speakers with varying shapes and sound qualities. While at GRM, I reconnected to my electroacoustic roots and worked with an abundant array of unique historical synthesizers and spatialization techniques. I found methods to expand, distress, define and obscure the geometries of my canonical music to create a piece that manages to encapsulate an expansive range of my musical and tuning fascinations. My deepest gratitude for François Bonnet and the entire GRM team for the invitation and support to create this music. While we celebrate the release of Living Torch today, we also lovingly remember the late Peter Rehberg of Editions Mego, who originally put this record into production with Portraits GRM. My sincere appreciation to @shelter_press for coming into our lives and graciously managing the production of this record to help it reach fruition.
